On February 21, 2026, we recognized and honored 5 Elders in the South Okanagan Similkameen Metis community. All of these Elders has volunteered much time and wisdom to our community over the years. Each were sashed by Glen Ohs. This sashing ceremony was followed by soup and bannock that was shared with friends and family.

First of hopefully many potluck gatherings!

Truth & Reconciliation Dinner

On November 21st, we gathered at La Casa Ouzeria for a Truth and Reconciliation Dinner that brought together Elders, Indigenous, and local community members for an evening of listening, learning, and reflection.

The gathering was centred on storytelling, with Elders — including Elder Terri and Elder Gary — sharing their experiences alongside members of the Penticton Indian Band and the broader community. Through shared stories and respectful dialogue, the evening fostered understanding, connection, and reflection, reminding us of the importance of honouring lived experiences and walking forward together in the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation.

Indigenous Peoples Day June 21st 2023

What an extraordinary gathering we experienced on Indigenous Peoples Day, brimming with reconnection, captivating live entertainment, and a true celebration of our heritage. Immense gratitude to Ross Everatt for generously imparting his extensive wisdom on furs, trapping, and the wonders of nature. Let's cherish and celebrate the wisdom that connects us to our roots.
